This War for Gold

Before the Goblin army arrives at the Lonely Mountain, the Elves, Men and Dwarves fight each other for possession of Thorin’s gold. In this scenario, the Goblins are running a little late so the Battle of Five Armies becomes the Battle of Three Armies with Elves & Men on one side and Dwarves on the other.

This battle is fought over the same battlefield as the Battle of Five Armies. To make more of a fight of it, double the number of units on each side compared to the Battle of Five Armies (or more if you want a really big game). We shall also add one unit of Dwarf Archers to give the Dwarf player some missile fire. The Elves and Men can set-up anywhere on the spurs, the Dwarves deploy at the table edge marked ‘Evil Cavalry’ on the main map. Thorin deploys behind his wall as usual. The Elfking is the Elf side’s General and Dáin is the Dwarf General. Gandalf, the Eagles and Beorn play no part in the game.
